We did online take out for 6:30 but wasn’t done til 6:45. There were only 4 ppl running the place and they do a drive thru and inside seating as well. Let me say waiting the extra 15 mins didn’t matter. We drove a 15 min drive and food was still pipin hot! If we lived here, I know where we would hang out!
Never Been disappointed until tonight, got 2 enchiladas combination delivered and I literally had 2, 2-3 inch pieces of enchiladas under my beans and rice. I called and told them and they said thats what it is... bye
Had the chimichangas special today, if I lived closer I'd be eating here everyday.
Ordered with door dash and I was very impressed with the size of the burritos. Very delicious. I will definitely be ordering again and will be my go to for tacos and burritos. Way better than some others I have eaten. Way to go gilbertos
We have been ordering the rolled tacos.. they are the bomb! We order using door dash. Gilberto’s always follows our special requests and they have Great prices. The chicken burrito and the breakfast Hawkeye burrito were very yummy. I ordered a 2 doz tamales they tasted good however way too much masa. We prefer a thin coating of masa. We are looking forward to trying more menu items.

I hate to even post this because I'm scared y'all are going to make the lines long but I just can't hold back anymore!! We literally just had the best burritos I've probably ever had in my life!! My husband is half mexican and grew up in california so he is very very picky about his food, it has to be authentic. You guys......The beans were phenomenal!!! Like 15/10 which is usually not something you really even notice in your burrito but wow ???The meat in every flavor we tried was tender and juicy and yet crunchy in the ones that were fried. We frequently visit taco trucks and authentic mexican restaurants and this will be our new local favorite. We don't usually drive down by the prairie meadows area so we hadn't even noticed their restaurant until about a week ago. I have a hard time with tortillas because some are too chewy and but these were soft and made just like grandma's. The salsa was nice and spicy but with a lot of flavor. The Tripas and chicharron were my favorite but the other two we tried were really good too. We had the cabeza, Tripas, chicharron and the lengua. The burritos are huge and not filled with lettuce and sour cream. This place is legit and authentic. Next we both want to try the carnitas and I'll definitely be trying their breakfast menu tomorrow!! Yummm yummm yummm!! This was the cabeza burrito..
I’m hoping you can help me locate the gal who was so kind to save a life today in your restaurant. She was there around 2:30 with 3 others and they sat by the restroom. So thankful that she was there. I’m so grateful for her quick action and kindness. ❤️❤️
I have NEVER been disappointed. Employees are polite and the menu is amazing! Very flavorful and sooooo many choices. ?
We ordered delivery for the second time thru Grubhub tonight. I'm not sure if the order gets to the restaurant correctly, but it has gotten lost in translation both times. We ordered super nachos, smothered in cheese with extra tomatoes, and sour cream, on the side. We also said no guac. Additionally, we requested jalopenos and pico on the side. We did not get it smothered in cheese, extra tomatoes or jalopenos. The cheese and tomatoes cost extra. I have pictures if I am able to add them. The food is fine and we like to try and support local restaurants.
The best Mexican food in Polk County/Altoona, authentic in every way. Always tasty, large portions, great daily specials. My favorite is the chicken chimichanga! And their Chocolate Tres Leche cake....to die for!
The waiters were very friendly and patient with us as it was the first and second time we were there. They also brought our food to us which was really nice.
Fabulous, would recommend this place if you love authentic Mexican food it was worth every bite I took. Will be going back. ??
I ordered through Grubhub after a friend told me about them. Gilberto's has great food. The burrito I ordered was so huge! They definitely don't skimp. All orders were generous and delish! I would highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again.
Awesome staff, awesome food, breakfast burritos are killer, and the salsa bar when open (closed my last stop thanks to Covid) is killer as well! Asked for some of the cold sides that are usually out on it (cabbage and cactus) and they hooked me up with enough of it I had to take some home! ⭐️?⭐️?⭐️?⭐️?⭐️?

We had take out last night and everything we ate was delicious. We had chicken chimichangas and beef burritos which were both loaded with meat and huge in size! They have a big menu with lots of different options! We will definitely be back!

Went for dinner tonight after a movie. The shrimp ceviche was so fresh, it was delicious! The carne asada tacos were really good too. The boys got carne asada burritos which were huge. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.
We tried this place on a whim and it is so good! The portions are huge and the flavor is great! I had the carne asada tacos with a side of rice. They also have a salsa bar and you can take some in a little to go cup if you want some for your left overs.
Breakfast burritos were great.. hopeful that the Cammarones a la Diabla are just as good next time I go. Service was quick, friendly and helpful.

Staff is very friendly and happy to be in Altoona!! The chicken burrito was awesome and so much chicken....there is also a salsa bar. The best part is starting Monday they will be open 24 hours! Stop by and give it a try and form your own opinion!! Will definitely return!
